Stop At: Great Wall at Panlongshan, Gubeikou Town, Miyun District, Beijing China
Your guide will meet you in the lobby of your hotel at 8:00,and it takes 2.5 hours drive to the wall. The trail begins in Xigou at a local farm to table restaurant and guest house. We’ll climb a winding heavily vegetated mountain trail for about 20 minutes until we meet the mountain ridge trail that is integrated into the wild wall of Xi Gou. While weather and erosion have harmed the wall, it becomes more and more complete with wall heights reaching 26 feet (8 meters) as we approach the Xigou Knot. Along the way you will note the unique blue and green hued rock that were used in the wall’s construction. Once we reach the knot you will enjoy majestic views, see several different types of watchtowers and have an opportunity to take a short but steep hike up one of the knot’s spurs. Once we leave the knot, we’ll hike further along the wall until we reach a valley where we will exit the wall and return to the restaurant for a rejuvenating meal. Will drive back to Beijing after that.
