Houhai (后海) is a lake and its surrounding neighborhood in Xicheng District of central Beijing, China.
Houhai is the largest of the three lakes, along with Qianhai ‘Front Lake’ and Xihai ‘Western Lake’, that comprise Shichahai, the collective name for the three northern-most lakes in central Beijing.

Walk through the Wangfujing Pedestrian Street. See the most fashionable fancy shopping malls and the biggest book store in Beijing. While you are there you may wish to browse through and buy some books you may not get anywhere else. Your tour guide will assist you. It is often referred to as the Shili Changjie (十里长街) meaning the Ten Li Long street. Chang’an is the old name for Xi’an which was the capital of China during the Western Han dynasty, the Tang dynasty and other periods.
