Stop At: Leshan Giant Buddha (Da Fo), No.2435 Lingyun Street, Shizhong District, Leshan 614000 China

You will be picked up from your hotel lobby in the morning for the 2.5-hour drive to Leshan, located about 160km away from Chengdu. you’ll have plenty of time to visit the Leshan Giant Buddha, which sits above three rivers in Sichuan province. Known as the world’s largest carved Buddha statue, it was sculpted into a cliff at Lingyun Mountain.

This private full-day tour allows you to thoroughly explore the site at your leisure. You’ll discover the statue from head to toe as you hike around it with your own personal guide. View the imposing Buddha statue while you descend the narrow staircases to its enormous feet, which can accommodate two dozen people standing alongside it.

It takes about 35 minutes to walk from the statue’s head to its torso and another 35 minutes from its waist to its feet. Take your time to enjoy the scenic landscape and, if you’d like, opt to take a cruise for a close-up look at the front side of the Giant Buddha (own expense). Lunch is provided at a local restaurant before you are transferred back to your Chengdu hotel in the afternoon.
