This is one of the dozens of markets near Dali, the exact location of the morning market and departure time will be shared upon booking.
The market is not a vegan market. Participants can expect to see non-vegan stalls, such as butchers and live fish vendors.

Ethnic Markets in Yunnan are great places to observe the unique mixture of ethnicities and minority culture that live in the area. Local artists and farmers come regularly to sell their crafts and produce.You will be able to sample scrumptious Yunnan snacks and dishes freshly made by the nearby villagers who set up their stalls at a different market every day to make a living. Small cities and townships will host these gatherings usually once every five to ten days, depending on the venue. Many of the minority women dress their best (traditional colorful costumes) on a market day.

Tile cats, known as “wamao” in Mandarin, can be commonly seen dotting the roofs of traditional home’s in Yunnan’s Dali region.

Tile cats can be easily recognized by their characteristic round and piercing eyes and gaping mouths. Regarded as a symbol of good luck, tile cats have gradually faded from public sight due to rapid urban expansionism.

Our tour will take us to a local Jianchuan black pottery making master for a hands-on workshop. The pottery creations need to be dried and fired in the kiln, and it takes up to a month when they are ready for use. At the end of tour, you are allowed to pick a ready-for-use product of the same price to take home.

His black pottery uses all-natural raw materials and 17 to 18 manual processes, deliberately slowed down to ensure the natural environmental protection of black pottery to the greatest extent.
