Stop At: Datong Museum, Taihe Road, Yudong New District, Datong 037005 China

The Datong Museum, located in the new Yudong area in Datong, plays an important role in the construction of the area. As a new administrative and cultural center in Datong, the new Yudong region, located on the east side of the ancient city which is across the river, plays an important role in the city’s axis. The museum is located centrally in this area, where the music hall is located symmetrically along the north-south axis to the east and where the large residential area is being planned to the west; to the south is the administrative center and to the north, the library and art gallery. All the distinctive cultural buildings constitute the new cultural center of the future urban design. Building the museum is therefore an important first step in the future. The architectural design inherits from Datong’s deep historical culture, while the architectural form is inspired by the culture of the long dragon totem. This coincides with the topographic features typical of Datong volcanoes at the same time. Two dimensions of granular arch floating around the vanity of the atrium, within a unified circular structure transforming into several sections, allowed the light and the decorations to register in the internal exhibition space . While the internal exhibition space as the main part changes with the non-linear form, causing the viewer to go into a deep cavern, the powerful and strong architectural form is exposed at the end. By combining more with the difficult word code, we have tried to make the building more powerful and meaningful. The three-dimensional surface of the architecture was covered with granite slabs, the same stone material also spanning the circular wall of the pool. The tablets with a subtle color difference changed randomly from bottom to top, and the effect of fluctuating anchoring strengthened the building site and the spirit of the local environment as a whole.
