Stop At: Chen Clan Ancestral Hall-Folk Craft Museum, No.34 Enlong Li, Zhongshan 7th Road, Guangzhou 510150 China
Chen Clan Temple is also called Chen Family Academy, which was built in 1890-1894. Chen Clan Temple used to be a private house for Chen family, where people in Chen family prayed for their ancestors. Now it is used as “Guang Dong Local Arts Museum”. There you can enjoy amazing carvings, like wood carving, ivory carving, brick carving, etc.

Stop At: Temple of the Six Banyan Trees & Flower Pagoda (Liurong Temple), No.87 Liurong Road, Yuexiu District, Guangzhou 510180 China
Six Banyan Temple was built in 537. It is a renowned Buddhist cultural site. The temple enshrines three large Buddhist statues — the biggest copper Buddhist statues existing in Guangdong Province. The thousand-Buddha copper pillar cast in the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368) is kept on the top story of the pagoda. The 184-feet pagoda appears to have nine stories; inside, however, there are 17 levels. Because of the colorful exterior carvings, it is popularly known as the Flower Pagoda.

Located on the north bank of the Pearl River’s White Goose Pool, Shamian Island is an oval islet, covering a tiny area of 0.3 square meters. Thanks to the many buildings of Western classicism on the island, it has recently been designated as a key protected relic of the state, and is called “Ninth Sight of Guangzhou”.

Used to be the north gate of the ram city(Guangzhou), with the remained relics of 600 years old city wall from Ming Dynasty, Yuexiu Park is one of the most important landmarks in the old town of Guangzhou, travellers could see various tunnels(built in 1950s for hiding and food storage during civil war period), Five Ram Statue(the nick name of Guangzhou “ram” city origin), Zhenhai Tower(a five stories building that has great historical significance), Yuexiu Stadium(a special soccer field that was built in the valley of the hills in the 1950s which serves as the lucky home field for one of the Guangzhou football team) and Sun Yat-Sen Monument.

Visit the core area of the old town to see the unique Cantonese style architecture of “Qilou” building and wooden sliding doors in Xiguan Old Houses Community, have a walk into the local neighbourhood to watch local people’s daily activities like Mahjong playing(traditional Chinese table game by four participants) and the highlight of local culture-Cantonese opera show by old people who live in the nearby neighborhoods.
