Ancestral Temple was built in 1078-1085 for offering sacrifice to Northern Xuantian Heavenly Emperor. The original building was destroyed in the end of Yuan Dynasty and was rebuilt in 1372. Before establishment of local administrative organization in Qing Dynasty, Ancestral Temple was the place for discussing official businesses, which was different from general temples.
