What to Expect When Visiting Kunming, Yunnan, China

Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Kunming
Stop At: Zhuanxin Wet Market, Zhuantang Road Near Zhuantang Park, Kunming China
Arrive at the airport or railway station where a guide holding a nameplate will pick you up and transfer you to your hotel by private car (The hotel will be after 14:00). You will take to the Zhuanxin Market which is the largest traditional agricultural market of Kunming. It is always a busy place with many local foods and ingredients, which are called “the real old Kunming food paradise” by the locals. You will be amazed by the numerous products selling on this market such as different spices, fresh meat, living animals, etc.
After that, you will have a welcome dinner in the famous restaurant “Laofangzi”.

Stop At: NanQiang BuXingJie, Near No.1 Nanqiang Street, Kunming China
In the evening, your guide will take you to the busy and crowded night market in Nanqiang Street and enjoy the authentic nightlife there. Nanqiang Street is one famous old street in Kunming. This street is lined with restaurants, dessert shops, cafés, clothing stores, and so on. You can taste all kinds of local food from Yunnan, and do some shopping there.

Day 2: Kunming – Shilin – Yuanyang
Stop At: Naigu Stone Forest, North of Shilin Scenic Spots, Shilin County 652211 China
Your driver will pick you up at the hotel at 09:00 and take you to Shilin (95 km, about 2 hours). You will visit the Black Stone Forest (Naigu), one of the most important attractions of Yunnan.As one of the most popular tourist sites in Yunnan, these beautiful karst formations live up to the hype.

Stop At: Duoyishu, East of Shengxiang Country, Yuanyang County 662401 China
After your trip to the Stone Forest, your driver will take you to Yuanyang (6 hours). Yuanyang is notable in China, and even the world, for its first-class rice terraces, which you can enjoy both from the road and upon arrival.
In the evening, you can enjoy the beautiful sunset at Bada.
Sleeping in the middle of rice terraces:
We highly recommend you stay in a small guesthouse in the Hani minority village of Duoyishu where there are nice guest rooms located right in front of the rice terraces.

Day 3: Yuanyang
Stop At: Yuanyang Rice Terraces, Yuanyang, Yuanyang County China
In the morning, you can walk or hike through beautiful rice terraces and different villages. There are several well-known scenic views along the rice terraces: Bada, Malizhai, Quanfuzhuang, and more.
After lunch, you can catch fish in the rice terraces (Boots and gloves including).

Day 4: Yuanyang – Jianshui
Stop At: Duoyishu, East of Shengxiang Country, Yuanyang County 662401 China
In the morning, watch the sunrise over the terraces at Duoyishu Village.

Stop At: Yuanyang County, Yuanyang County, Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan
Your guide will take you to visit a local ethnic minority market (dates will be set according to the day of the Chinese lunar calendar).

Stop At: Jianshui Ancient City, Within Jianshui County, Jianshui County 654300 China
After that, drive you to Jianshui (130 km, about 3 hours 30 minutes).
Arrive in Jianshui, explore Jianshui Ancient Town, and visit Chaoyang Tower.
Duration: 1 hour

Day 5: Jianshui
Stop At: Tuan Hill, Honghe, Tuanshan Village, Xizhuang Town, Jianshui County 654311 China
In the morning, take the Jianshui Ancient Town Train, launched in May 2015, from Jianshui to Tuanshan Village. This century-old narrow-gauge railway is a branch of the better known Yunnan-Vietnam Railway which was built by French in the 19th century. On the way, you can admire the stunning Double Dragon Bridge.
Visit the Yi and Hui minority Tuanshan Village and its traditional houses, and the history dates back to the Qing Dynasty.

Stop At: Jianshui Confucius Temple, North-west of Jianshui County, Jianshui County 654300 China
After visiting Tuanshan, you will return by train or by car to Jianshui. Visit the second largest Confucius Temple in China, after that of Qufu.
Duration: 1 hour
Stop At: Zhu’s Family Garden (Zhu Jia Huayuan), Jianxin Street, Jianshui County 654300 China
Visit Zhu’s Family Garden, built in the late nineteenth century by wealthy traders.

Day 6: Jianshui – Kunming – Departure
Stop At: Jianshui Ancient City, Within Jianshui County, Jianshui County 654300 China
In the morning, your guide will take you to visit a local traditional market. Chatting with locals and find out how local food is traded.
Explore all kinds of ancient wells in Jianshui ancient town.

Pass By: International Tourism Service Experience Center, Kunming Changsui International Airport, Kunming Changshui International Airport, Kunming China
After that, you will return by car to Kunming（200 km, about 3 hours 30 minutes). Your driver will take you to Kunming airport or Kunming railway station. Depart from Kunming.
