What to Expect When Visiting Lhasa, Tibet, China

Itinerary
Day 1: Lhasa arrival
Pass By: Lhasa, Lhasa, Tibet
Arrive at Lhasa by flight or train, your Tibetan guide will be greeting at the outside of the airport or train station, and then transfer to the hotel in the downtown area.
Note: the free train station pick-up is always free today, the free airport pick-up leaves Lhasa airport at 9:30 am / 13:30 pm / 16:30 pm.

Day 2: Lhasa city exploring
Stop At: Potala Palace, No.35 Gongqian Alley, Beijing Middle Road Cheng Guan District, Lhasa 850000 China
Start your first day’s sightseeing to Potala Palace, it’s the residence of the Dalai Lama lineages (Avalokiteshvara), and the focal points of pilgrims from the whole Tibetan world.
Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes
Stop At: Jokhang Temple, Barkhor Street, Chengguan District, Lhasa 850000 China
Then proceed to visit Jokhang Temple, it’s located at the heart of old town in Lhasa and dated back in the 7th century. It’s the most sacred shrine in Tibet, pilgrims are circumambulating and prostrating in their strong faith around and inside the temple.
Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes
Stop At: Barkhor Street, Chengguan District, Lhasa 851500 China
Barkhor street is fulfilled with many Tibetan handcrafts, it’s a ideal place for you to buy the souvenirs for your friends, the circuit path of the Jokhang temple is called Barkhor kora.

Day 3: Excursion to Drepung & Sera Monasteries
Stop At: Drepung Monastery (Zhebang Si), Southern Slope of Genpeiwuzi Mountain, Chengguan District, Lhasa 850000 China
Drepung monastery is Gelugpa (yellow hat) sect monastic college, which was once the world’s largest monastery in the history with 7,700 monks. It was also the seat of the Government prior to Potala Palace,
Duration: 2 hours
Stop At: Sera Monastery, Wuze Hill , Sera Chengguan District, Lhasa 850000 China
Sera monastery is renowned for its Buddhism philosophical debate practice, the clapping sound and aggressive expression of the monks are well worth seeing, together with the sand mandala inside the of the chapel.

Day 4: Lhasa departure
Pass By: Lhasa Railway Station, Liuwu Country, Doilungdeqen County 851400 China
Transfer to Lhasa train station for departure, which is always free today.
Free transfer to Lhasa airport leaves Lhasa hotel at 06:30 am / 08:30 am / 12:30 pm.
