What to Expect When Visiting Shanghai, Shanghai Region, China

Itinerary

Day 1: Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station-Tiananmen Square-Forbidden City

Stop At: Shanghai Railway Station, Shanghai Railway Station, Shanghai
Your friendly driver will pick you up from your hotel in Shanghai in early morning and transfer to Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station to catch your departure train around 8:00.a.m to Beijing. Upon arrival, your driver will assist with obtain the train tickets for you.

Stop At: Beijing South Railway Station, Yongdingmen Wai Street, Dongcheng District, Beijing 100069 China
When you arrive at Beijing South Railway Station, your private guide and driver will hold a sign with your full name on it and meet you there, please look for your name at the Exit. Then transfer to a nice local restaurant and enjoy a tasty local lunch first.

Stop At: Tiananmen Square (Tiananmen Guangchang), West Changan Street, Dongcheng District, Beijing 100006 China
After lunch, head to your first stop: Tiananmen Square, which is located in the centre of Beijing. It encompassed 108.7 acres,880 meters from north to south and 500 meters from east to west, big enough to hold a half million people. Accompanied by your guide, wonder around and you will see the Mao Zedong’s Mausoleum where his body is preserved, the Monument to the People’s Heroes and the Great Hall of People, etc.

Stop At: Forbidden City-The Palace Museum, No.4 Jingshanqian Street, Dongcheng District, Beijing 100009 China
Then follow your guide to the Forbidden City, which is the best preserved imperial palace in China and the largest palace with 9,999.5 rooms. The splendid architecture of the Forbidden City represents the essence and culmination of traditional Chinese architectural accomplishment. You will visit the buildings opened to public, learn the history and listen interesting stories from your guide, admire the amazing architectures.
After the tour, you will be transferred to your Beijing downtown hotel.

Day 2: Mutianyu Great Wall-Summer Palace

Stop At: Mutianyu Great Wall, Mutianyu Village, Bohai Town, Huairou District, Beijing China
Meet your guide and driver at your hotel lobby in the morning, and drive about 1.5 hours to Mutianyu Great Wall, the best welcomed by travelers for its picturesque scenery, fewer tourist, and beautifully-restored architecture. You can either choose taking a cable car up and cable car down or chair lift up to the Wall and spend 2-3 hours hiking on the Wall, then take a toboggan down.Taking a toboggan ride back down is exciting and a lot of fun.

Stop At: Summer Palace (Yiheyuan), No.19 Xinjian Gongmen Road, Haidian District, Beijing 100080 China
After finish the Great Wall hiking, stop to enjoy a nice lunch at a local restaurant and sample some typical Chinese cuisine, then return to Beijing to visit the Summer Palace. Spend the rest of the afternoon at the Summer Palace, a well-preserved royal garden. It has been listed in the World Heritage Sites and considered as one of the most classical gardens of the world.
Your tour concludes with your Beijing hotel drop-off.

Day 3: Temple of Heaven-Drum and Bell Tower-Hutong-Lama Temple

Stop At: Temple of Heaven, Tiantan Road, Dongcheng District, Beijing 100050 China
After morning pickup at your hotel, head to the Temple of Heaven, the largest religious building in China. It was originally used by the Ming and Qing emperors to pay homage to heaven and to pray for a year of rich harvest, and locals now come to the temple to practice Tai Chi, sing, and dance. You are always welcomed to join them.

Stop At: Bell and Drum Towers, Di’anmen Wai Main Street, Dongcheng District, Beijing 100006 China
Afterwards, continue to Bell and Drum Towers, lying on the north-south axis line of Beijing City, the represent the symbol of this old city.They were built in 1272 and rebuilt twice after two fires. During the Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, they were the time-telling center of the capital city. Climb up to the top of Drum Tower, listen the history from your tour guide and enjoy a drum show.
After that, follow your guide and wander around the Old Beijing hutongs nearby, taste the culture of Beijing and experience the life of the locals.

Stop At: Lama Temple (Yonghegong), No.12 Yonghegong Street, Beixinqiao, Dongcheng District, Beijing 100007 China
After enjoy a nice local lunch, continue to Lama Temple, the largest and best-preserved lamasery in Beijing. It was built in 1694 during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) as the residence of the Emperor Yongzheng before he ascended the throne. In the year 1744, the residence was completely converted into a lamasery.
Then you will be transferred back to your Beijing downtown hotel. If you choose tour ends in Shanghai, you will be transferred to Beijing South Railway Station and take the bullet train back to Shanghai. The driver will wait for you at Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station and transfer to your Shanghai hotel.
