Road, Hongkou District. It is a three-story bungalow, where the sign of the former site of
the Far East Anti-War Congress hangs in an inconspicuous doorway. Soong Qingling

Huoshan Park——The area is only the size of the street garden; although small, it has a
quite long and hazy history. Huoshan Park is located at the intersection on the south side
of Zhoushan Road, very close to Tilanqiao Prison, a Jewish area that took refuge in
Shanghai during World War II. There is a glass-covered nameplate in the park, which is
hung by the Hongkou District People’s Government and the Israeli Consulate General in
Shanghai, to commemorate that period. The old city renovation project in Hongkou District
continues to eat away at the surrounding neighborhoods, hoping that the historical
neighborhoods and buildings around Huoshan Park will survive because of its cultural status

1943, over 16,500 Jewish refugees were living primarily in Hongkew, Shanghai, a ghetto
established by the Japanese invaders at Nazi instigation. As conditions worsened, the
