As the only ancient town forming part of greater Shanghai, with a history spanning over one thousand years, Qibao ancient town is more than just a living fossil of ancient Chinese conurbation and urban planning. Qibao Town carries visitors back through the centuries by virtue of its history, culture, architecture and local people. The name originates from the Qibao Temple. A great variety of snacks in Qibao Ancient Town will attract your eye when you are walking the streets of the old town. We will take a boat trip along canals, visit Qibao Ancient Town, taste Shanghai’s traditional snacks and watch traditional handicraft making.

Located in a suburb of Shanghai city, Zhujiajiao Water Town is well-known throughout the country, with a history of more than 1,700 years. Zhujiajiao makes a name for itself with it’s convenient land and water transportation, beautiful scenery, abundant products, is the most well-preserved jiangnan water town in Shanghai and being regarded as Shanghai’s Venice.
In the Zhjiuajiao Water Town, there is an ancient street filled with representative ancient buildings from the Ming and Qing Dynasties, attracting great numbers of domestic and foreign visitors. That is North Street, which is the best preserved ancient street in this suburb. Only one kilometer long, the whole street is at once primitively simple, yet very elegant. Strolling on this ancient thoroughfare and appreciating the historic buildings, long-established stores, and old bridges as well as the many narrow lanes is another enjoyment.

Kezhi Garden is the largest manorial garden featureing beautiful sightseeing and quiet and secluded surroundings. It consists mainly of three parts, including a hall area, an artificial hill area and a garden area. In the artificial hill area, there is magnificent symbolic architecture – a foursquare five-story building, on the top of which stands a diametric pavilion. This building is considered the tallest architecture in Zhujiajiao Town.
We will spend an hour visiting Zhujiajiao Kezhi Garden in Han Chinese Clothing and experiencing Chinese traditional cultural activities, such as face painting, handwriting and drawing Chinese fan.

It is said that to visit Zhujiajiao Water Town without seeing the bridges means that you have not really been to Zhujiajiao at all. Bridges here are distinctive and old, built during Ming and Qing Dynasties. The old Zhujiajiao Town is thoroughly connected by 36 delicate spans in different shapes and styles, from wooden to stone to marble.

We will visit landmarks including the Qing-period post office, the City God Temple and Yuanjin Temple. Zhujiajiao post office is the earliest post office in east China, which is the only well-preserved Qing dynasty post office in east China.
Then, we will watch the making of traditional snacks and enjoy twenty-minute fish pedicure.
