Beitou (Hot Spring Museum)

Beitou Hot Spring Museum: Start your day with a visit to this historical site, which used to be a public bathhouse during the Japanese colonial period. Learn about the history and culture of Taiwan’s hot springs here.
Thermal Valley: Also known as “Hell Valley,” this natural hot spring is one of the sources of Beitou’s hot springs. Admire the steam rising from the emerald green water, creating a unique and mystical atmosphere.
Yangmingshan National Park (Qingtiangang Grassland, Lengshuikeng Trail, Xiaoyoukeng)

Yangmingshan National Park is located in the north of Beitou. Yangmingshan was called Caoshan (Grass Mountain) during Japanese occupation of Taiwan, because it was covered with grass and seldom visited. After World War II, the KMT government renamed the mountain Yangmingshan and built a park here. Yangmingshan National Park is the only park in Taiwan that has volcanic geography and hot springs. It is next to Shamao Mountain and Qixing Mountain with Datun Mountain on the right and Guanyin Mountain in front.
Qingtiangang Grassland: A scenic spot known for its wide-open grassy plains and grazing cattle. Perfect for a leisurely stroll with stunning views of the mountains.
Lengshuikeng Trail: A relatively easy walking trail that takes you through geothermal areas with hot spring water streams. It’s known for the cooler spring water.
Xiaoyoukeng: This area showcases the volcanic activity in Yangmingshan. You’ll find fumaroles (steam vents), sulfur crystals, and boiling mud pots.
Tamsui (Tamsui Old Street, Fisherman’s Wharf, Fort Santo Domingo, etc.)

Tamsui is a seaside district in New Taipei City, Taiwan adjacent to the Tamsui River and overlooking the Taiwan Strait. The name of the district means “fresh water” in Chinese. Although modest in size (population 189,271), Tamsui plays a significant role in Taiwanese history and culture
