Stop At: Ancient City of Gaochang (Kharakhoja), Sanpu Country, Turpan 838000 China
Ruins of Gaochang was located 50km east from Turpan downtown and by Flaming Mountain. It was first time built around first century BC and later became the capital of Turpan Local Kingdom after 4th century. Between 5-12 centuries is the most flourished period of this city, after 1278 it was destroyed by Mongolians. The ruins has area over 3 square km and city wall maintained over 5 km.

Stop At: Astana-Karakhoja Tombs, Asitana Village, Huoyanshan Country, Turpan 838000 China
Astana Ancient Tombs takes very important place among the archaeological field of Xinjiang,esp the items found from this tomb which belongs to Tang period were very famous and important. This tomb located 5km north from Gaochang Ruins, occupied area over 2 square km,only open 3 underground tombs to public. Main relics are exhibited at Xinjiang Museum.

Stop At: Bezeklik Thousand Buddha Caves, Gaochang District, Turpan, Xinjiang, China
Bizaklik Grotto (Thousand Buddha Caves) were located 15km from Gaochang Ruins , in a beautiful valley of Flaming Mountain,Murtuq Valley. The grotto started to built around 3rd century, 150 years early than Dunhuang Caves.After 11 century the caves were stopped coz of Islam starts to come. Early of 1900, this cave introduced to West by several foreign scholars,Le Coq has taken most of the best mural paintings to Germany. Now only open 7 caves among the 67. Cave 38 was the only cave which has two religious painting,both Buddhism and Manichean.

Pass By: Flaming Mountains (Huoyan Shan), Middle of Turpan Basin, Turpan 838200 China
Flaming mountain lies over 100 km from west to east of Turpan Depression, with average sea level of 400 meters, because of the reddish color of the soil and hottest temperature during Summer, it gives you a feeling of Flaming.
Stop At: Ancient City of Jiaohe (Yarkhoto), Jianggelemaisi Village, Ya’er Country, Turpan 838000 China
Ruins of Jiaohe located 15 km west from downtown of Turpan city, a ruins over 2500 years old, the first capital of this oasis kingdom after 5th century BC. After the capital was moved to Gaochang then became the largest and important trade center at this oasis, a real Silk Road trade town. The city was carved out from the clay which surround the the city by high river cliffs,that is why the name 交河 was called: a city located by two rivers and built up above the river cliffs（Local Uyghur name was Yarghul,means town over the River Cliff）. The ruins naturally protected and after 1994 listed in a protection list by UNESCO. While walking through this ruin,you can feel the ancient time as well as the architecture.

Stop At: Karez System, Xincheng Ximen Village, Ya’er Country, Turpan 838000 China
Karez Irrigation System was considered to be the most important project to this oasis for over two thousand years. Because of the hot and dry climate, only with this underground irrigation system, the locals safely have the fresh snow-melt to the oasis. Now there are over 1500 irrigation system lies in this oasis and one third of them still supplying water which makes 35% of using water all over the aosis.
